Spicy White Cheddar Cheese Biscuits

Updated: Feb 7, 2021

Homemade Cheddar Cheese biscuits! These spicy biscuits are savory, cheesy, and flaky. Topped with garlic butter and speckled with red chilly flakes they are perfect for breakfast and brunch. They also pair well with hot soup. They are crisp on the outside and perfectly tender on the inside. Yum!

Prep:10 mins

Cook: 10 -12 mins

Total: 30 mins

Yield: 1 dozen

Biscuit Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

5 tablespoons cold butter, grated

1 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup sour cream

1 tablespoon sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 cup shredded white cheddar cheese

1/4 cup dried parsley

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon red chilly flakes

Garlic Butter Ingredients:

3 tablespoons softened salted butter

1 teaspoon minced garlic

1/2 teaspoon dried parsley

1/2 Italian seasoning

Steps:

1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

2. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, ground pepper, dried parsley, garlic powder, baking soda and baking powder, add cold tiny cubes of butter, mix in the dough to get a crumbly texture.

3. In another bowl, whisk together sour cream, buttermilk. Pour mixture in the dry ingredients and stir well before folding in the cheese. Don’t over mix. Make a soft dough(refrigerate for half an hour optional).

4. On a lightly floured surface roll out the dough and using a cookie cutter cut out the biscuits, apply milk or butter on the biscuit tops and sprinkle red pepper flakes.

5. Place them onto the prepared baking sheet two inches apart and into the preheated oven, bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.

6. For a buttery topping, apply garlic butter on the biscuits and serve warm.

Enjoy!
